IT'S A WRAP!!
What a 4 weeks it was too
.
Everyone involved including the support from family and friends has been amazing.
The No.1 aim for the challenge was to raise as much as we could for Penny Brohn, our chosen charity for 2026 and we have successfully raised just shy of 4k to date which we couldn't have done without your help.
We had our main Just Giving page as well as 7 individual Just Giving branches that fed into the main pot. A big thank you to John Wilson, Phil Segar, David Dring, Simon Gaywood, Mark Rummings, Greg Bartholomew and Matt Cox for doing this it definitely made a difference to the amount we raised 👏
Thank you to everyone that also attended the games and curry night which also contributed significantly to the total Big thanks to Chris Price for organizing both of these events which raised over £500 and shows that fun and fund raising can go hand in hand.
Beyond what we raised you can't ignore the physical achievement of everyone that uted to the Meters climbed over the 4 weeks.
In total we climbed an impressive 720,264m which is 81 times up Everest and would impressively get you to the international space station. 😵💫
The teams prize was fiercely fought with Team Stelvio coming out on top, Team Ventoux 2nd and Team Angliru a close 3rd.
Last but not least were the individual efforts which were outstanding, mind boggling and downright crazy.
Dr Phil Segar topped the table with an absolutely bonkers total of 55,012m (6 times up Everest)
What makes this even more impressive is the fact he only had a hip replacement several weeks previously.
Simon Gaywood tried continuously to knock Phil from the top but couldn't cope with Phil's metronomic consistency and was stuck into 2nd place with 50,079m (5.5 times up Everest )
The final podium spot went to Simon Arkright who showed some stern competition early on but unfortunately faded in the last week due to some unfortunate undercarriage issues 😳😉
Still an impressive total of 37,351m (4 times up Everest).
The ladies also had a ding dong of a battle with Tracey Phillips coming out on top with an impressive 6th overall and 1st lady. Tracey climbed a staggering 21,417m (2.5 times up Everest)
In 2nd with an stonking ride was Annabel Wotton who managed to climb her way to 16.909m (just shy of 2 times up Everest)
And finally we have Ann Tarr who finished a very close 3rd and really pushed Annabel to the final day with 16,389m ( again just shy of 2 Everest's)
There's not much more to add to this other than thank you everyone and well done for putting all your blood sweat and tears (gears??) into the challenge
"Chapeau" 👌😊💪👍
Next Up?
We've decided to keep the theme of supporting Penny Brohn UK going throughout the year and use other club events to add a little more to the pot.
We still have:
A bike jumble to come - we are working on a date for that
The Charity raffle which will be held at the AGM on 8th May, Somerset Hall
The Club 100
The Christmas Ride.
We may use each of these events to add a bit more to the total and we'll keep you up to date with how that total is looking. So far, we are ahead of last year so we're looking good
Once again, thanks to everyone for all your efforts!!
Roll On PCC!!
