The clocks are changing… and summer midweek rides are back!

Lighter evenings, drier roads, the smell of freshly shaved legs… it can only mean one thing: PCC’s summer midweek rides are back. And that means the return of two absolute club favourites
MMT on Tuesdays and Chaingang on Thursdays.
It's still early in the season so please remember to bring a decent set of lights. Good enough to see, as well as be seen!
Tuesdays = MMT
MMT stands for Magical Mystery Tour — which is a much better name than “pleasant Tuesday evening bike ride with a good chance of ending in a pub”.
The ride starts at 6:30pm and is, as ever, a social ride. Groups will be split depending on who turns up, so there should be something to suit everyone who fancies a proper club ride-out with a bit of chat, a bit of fresh air, and maybe a post-ride drink if you’re that way inclined.
The aim is the same as always: ride as a neat group.
That means:
if you’re struggling, let the riders around you know
if you find yourself off the front on your own, check behind and ease it back
and if you’re sitting comfortably in the wheels, maybe save just enough energy for the pub finish
It’s not a race. It’s not a test. It’s a summer club evening done properly.
Sign onto the 1st one:
Thursdays = Chaingang
Then comes Thursday Chaingang.
This is probably the club’s least sociable rides… but also one of the most fun
There’s a full description on the RWGPS event page, but the essence is simple: this is your chance to ride in a fast, controlled session where the focus is on smooth riding, working well together, and getting the best out of the group.
7:00pm from Portishead and the chaingang starts at 7:30pm in Clevedon.
There won’t be much chat. There will be a lot of concentration. There may be some heavy breathing, and, if it all clicks, it’s one of the best feelings in club riding.
We’d love to see more groups out again this year, so whether you’re a seasoned chaingang regular or thinking about giving it a go, now’s the time to get involved.

Summer is here. Get out and ride.
These midweek rides are a big part of what makes the club tick through the summer — one more social, one more serious, both brilliant in their own way.
So as the clocks change and the evenings open up again, dust off the summer kit, pump the tyres up, and come and join us.
