Privacy Policy

Your privacy is very important to us. At Portishead Cycling Club (PCC) we have a few fundamental principles that we follow:

  • We don’t ask you for personal information unless we truly need it.

  • Club members provide PCC details of their British Cycling Membership number. PCC uses this information to link the members British Cycling and PCC's memberships through British Cycling's secure Club Manger Portal.

  • We share your your PCC membership expiry date with British Cycling through their secure Club Manager Portal.

​

  • We don’t share any other personal information with anyone except to comply with the law, or protect our rights.

​

  • We don’t store personal information on our servers unless required for the on-going operation of our site.

  • When you become a member of or renew your membership with PCC you will be registered for an online account with British Cycling if you do not already have one. We will provide British Cycling with your personal data which they will use to enable access to an online portal for you (called My Dashboard) on the British Cycling website. British Cycling will use your personal data in accordance with its Privacy Notice which can be accessed at https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/staticcontent/info--Privacy-Policy-0. British Cycling will contact you to invite you to sign into and update your dashboard (which, amongst other things, allows you to set and amend your privacy settings). If you have any questions about the continuing privacy of your personal data when it is shared with British Cycling, please contact co mpliance@britishcycling.org.uk.”

  • As a club member your Name, Phone number, Insurance Status and emergency contact details will be held on the club website.  This information will be maintained and will only be accessible to Subscribing Club Members.  General site visitor and website members and lapsed memberships will not have access to this information.  The information is held primarily to deal with accidents or incidents when emergency contacts may be required urgently."

  • As a club member your information may be shared on the club website, social media pages or in emails sent by the club. This data will only be shared in the event that either you are a club volunteer, have participated in a club ride, race or challenge event or have recorded a major achievement. This data will be limited to your name, race results (if applicable) and details of your achievement. Limited further information about you may be included; for example, whether you have participated in a juniors’ race or a women’s race.  If you ever have an issue with any of the information uploaded to the above then please contact a PCC Committee member to resolve.

Website Visitors

PCC collects non personally identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. PCC’s purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how visitors use its website. From time to time, PCC will report to members using non-personally-identifying information in the aggregate, e.g., by publishing a report on trends in the usage of its website.

Gathering of Personally-Identifying Information

Visitors to the PCC website choose to interact with PCC in ways that require PCC to gather personally-identifying information, namely our contact form. This is purely used to facilitate whatever the enquiry is.

Aggregated Statistics

PCC may collect statistics about the behaviour of visitors to its website. This is reported to members on occasion. However, PCC will not disclose personally identifying information other than as described below.

Protection of Certain Personally-Identifying Information

PCC discloses potentially personally identifying and personally identifying information only to those of its site administrators who (i) need to know that information in order to process it, and (ii) that have agreed not to disclose it to others.

PCC will not rent or sell potentially personally identifying and personally identifying information to anyone.

PCC discloses potentially personally identifying and personally identifying information only in response to a court order or other governmental request, or when PCC believes in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of PCC, third parties or the public at large. Cookies

A cookie is a string of information that a website stores on a visitor’s computer, and that the visitor’s browser provides to the website each time the visitor returns. PCC uses cookies to help PCC identify and track visitors, their usage of PCC website, and their website access preferences. PCC visitors who do not wish to have cookies placed on their computers should set their browsers to refuse cookies before using PCC’s website, with the drawback that certain features may not function properly without the aid of cookies.

Privacy Policy Changes

Although most changes are likely to be minor, PCC may change its Privacy Policy from time to time, and in PCC’s  sole discretion. PCC encourages visitors to frequently check this page for any changes to its Privacy Policy. Your continued use of this site after any change in this Privacy Policy will constitute your acceptance of such change.
