So you've joined a Zwift Racing Team, congratulations!! If you've reached this point then you've managed to register on Zwift Power, Zwift, calibrated your turbo, weighed in, found your category now you are all ready to go... Q. How do I join a race? A. In joining a team you should have been assigned to a WhatsApp group for the team. The team captain will send out a racelink. Click on it and register for the Event. If you are not on the group or don't have a link post on the virtual rides page or in here. Q. Any tips for joining a race? A. Join as soon as the race pen opens, 30 minutes before then immediately log out. This will reserve your place at the front of the grid. It may seem strange but you will thank me as when it comes to the race you will start on the front row :) Make sure you are in the pen with 15 minutes to go to avoid any last minute technical glitches, make sure Zwift is up to date and any downloads have happened before you arrive! Q. How do I speak to my teammates? The teams communicate via Discord. It's best to download the discord app or install on your pc. One of your teammates will share the server for you via the team WhatsApp. It is really helpful to have a set of headphones and the ability to speak in races. Download this and test before the race! Q. Any race tips? Start Fast, it will settle down after the first 5 minutes. Do whatever you can to hold the main group. You will get the rewards if you can hang-on in there. Don't be a hero! Until the pack is whittled down by a sprint or hill you are not likely to be able to ride faster than a large group. Practice Drafting. You'll notice if you are not riding a Tron bike that your avatar sits up when riding behind another rider. This means your rider is drafting and will use 30% less watts. Make sure you use this feature in the races. If you are new to a category adopt a "Hang On" strategy, do not sit on the front save your energy for risers, sprints. Position yourself where you can draft but still react to the group. Read the course previews so you get a good idea of what is going to go down. https://zwiftinsider.com has a big guide on bikes/courses/previews/power ups) etc. Use Power-ups wisely. At the start of a lap or through sprint of KOM barriers you will receive power ups. Learn what they are and use them in the right place. If you get dropped keep going, there are points all the way down the field. Gather yourself, find a group and you may come back stronger. Q. What is a Zwift TTT? A. some of the races are team time trials. In these races each team sets off at 30s intervals and tries to ride as a group. The fastest time for 4 riders to cross the line wins.

Anyone got 20 minutes to look at a couple of house projects and put us off? Looking for very ballpark figures plus how much contingency we should budget for? Let me know if anyone can help? Thanks
